Portland Volvo Cars is proud to support seven-year-old Elliot Watson of Saco, Maine, in his exciting first season of competitive racing. As a dealership rooted in community values and family traditions, we are thrilled to stand behind a young racer whose story is built on passion, dedication, and legacy.
Elliot, who first got behind the wheel at just six years old, began turning laps earlier this season at Shredway Maine (formerly Boxshop Speedway). He made his competitive debut shortly after at Claremont Speedway in New Hampshire, entering the Tiger Cub division — a class designed for racers aged 5 to 7.

Driving a small racecar powered by a 6.5 horsepower Subaru Robin engine, electronically limited to 4000 RPMs, Elliot can reach speeds of up to 35 mph on the track. The Tiger Cub karts are similar in form to quarter midgets, though without full suspension, placing an even greater emphasis on driver skill and control.
Motorsports run deep in Elliot’s family. He is a second-generation driver, following in the footsteps of both his father and uncle — accomplished racers and multi-time champions in their own right. With their guidance and his own natural drive, Elliot is quickly developing into a focused and competitive young athlete.

Off the track, Elliot is just as impressive. He enjoys building elaborate LEGO creations, racing slot cars, and holds an Extra Class amateur radio license — the highest level available from the FCC. His favorite subject in school is math, and he brings that same analytical curiosity to everything he does.
Looking ahead to the 2026 season, Elliot plans to compete full-time at Claremont Speedway and expand his racing experience to other venues and surfaces as well. Portland Volvo Cars is honored to play a role in his journey and looks forward to supporting him as he takes the next steps in what promises to be a bright and exciting future.
“We see a lot of qualities in Elliot that reflect the values we uphold as a brand — passion, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence,” said Matt DiBiase, General Manager of Portland Volvo Cars. “It’s a privilege to support a young talent like him.”
