Comfort
With an elegant interior quality, the 2022 Volvo XC90 features beautiful Scandinavian styling. Wood and leather materials are abundant in the cabin with a nine-inch infotainment screen that looks similar to the touchscreen inside of a Tesla. Optional comfort features include a heated steering wheel, massaging first, and second-row seats, and ventilation on the front and back seats. 15.8 cubic feet of cargo space is available behind the third row, which increases to 41.8 cubic feet when the third-row seats are folded.
The cabin of the Audi Q7 offers plenty of spaciousness throughout the interior with a panoramic sunroof that increases visibility to the outdoors. A heated steering wheel, window shades, heated or cooled seats, and front-seat massagers also provide additional comfort. The Q7, however, has fewer standard features, and lacks the option to add second-row massagers. A gear shift lever is used on the console and acts as a resting point for the wrist when operating the vehicle. The third row is small and cramped, making it more suitable for children or small pets.
Technology
Volvo integrates the latest technology into the new 2022 Volvo XC90 with satellite radio, a hands-free liftgate, proximity keyless entry, navigation, adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, driver attention monitoring, speed limit recognition, oncoming collision mitigation for pedestrians and cyclists with animal detection, road departure mitigation, and a rearview camera. Touch-sensitive climate buttons are available on the Q7 dashboard for increased convenience, and Audi's Virtual Cockpit Plus, which features a high resolution 12.3" display, rivals Volvo's Sensus system in look and feel, but lacks its intuitiveness. A powered third-row comes standard for seating that accommodates up to seven people, and hands-free gesture control also makes it easy to open the tail-gate.
Performance
Performance continues to be a strong suit of the Volvo XC90 with a 2.0-liter, 250 horsepower, four-cylinder engine that comes standard. Consumers can also upgrade to a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged and supercharged engine that produces 316 horsepower. The vehicle gets 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, which is competitive for its class. The top-of-the-line T8 plug-in hybrid combines an electric motor with a powerful combustion engine for optimum fuel economy, lower CO2 emissions, and exhilarating performance. Together, the combustion and electric power produce 400 HP and 472 lb.-ft. of torque, and a 0-to-60 mph acceleration time of 5.3 seconds.
XC90's handling is confident and stable with steering that is quick to respond, giving the vehicle plenty of athleticism. A significant amount of control is also provided when going around corners on winding roads. All-wheel drive also comes standard on the vehicle.
The Audi Q7 comes standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine that generates 252 horsepower and can reach 60 mph in 7.1 seconds. The upgraded option is a 3.0-liter V6 engine that gets 333 horsepower. The car accelerates quickly but doesn't live up to the sharp handling and steering that is offered with the latest model of the Volvo XC90.
