You have a true adventurer's
spirit and you need a wagon with total all around
capability - both on and off road. With its high ground clearance and
superb chassis, the 2014 XC70 is the answer. You'll drive confidently
in the knowledge that your car has refined strength to take you
anywhere, in any weather.
Since
the first V70 Cross Country was introduced in 1997, Volvo's main focus
during tits development has been to maintain the aura of a very
comfortable on-road car with capable, off-road potential. The rugged
and refined contemporary look truly reflects the XC70's underlying
strength and capability.
Design
A number of new exterior
design cues sharpen the XC70's
contemporary road presence. These include a bolder front
grille, a
bigger Ironmark, and details such as Daytime Running Lights and matte
silver accents. For 2015, the XC70 is available with wheels up to
19-inches in diameter. The aim is to emphasize the luxurious
feel with
a more road-hugging stance.

The
XC70 also features improved off-road design cues such as skidplates
that protect the car on uneven surfaces.
The XC70 offers first-class comfort and sophistication combined with an
impressive 72.1 cu/ft. of cargo space - and the rear seats can be
folded down into three 40/20/40 segments to achieve even more space
when needed. The power-operated tailgate, which can be opened remotely
via the key fob, or the dashboard, is another human-centric detail.
The rear seat can integrate double two-stage child seats - with one
simple movement, booster cushions pop up from the seat giving a
comfortable and safe ride height for children from the age of three and
upwards.

Scandinavian design is exemplified
by beautiful, simple shapes and surfaces with any unnecessary clutter
removed.
This is evident in the XC70's interior and exterior. Inside, the
authentic
materials, such as wood and leather, and the easy-to-use controls
combine to
create a truly in-command driving experience.
The
car has been developed and balanced to give a first-class driving
experience, based largely on pliant ride and secure road holding,
allied to high stability. Stability is particularly important when
driving with many passengers and lots of luggage.
All-Wheel Drive and the optional Hill Descent Control are a further
boost to the XC70's go-anywhere promise.
The XC70 can be optionally specified with an active chassis based on
Volvo's Four-C technology, which uses a number of sensors to
continuously monitor the car's behavior, and adjust the dampers to suit
the current driving conditions.

Innovative
Technology
The 2015 XC70 features Volvo Sensus, where
information from the audio unit, navigation system, mobile phone, and
other
functions is presented on a high resolution 7-inch color screen in the
upper
part of the center console. All the functions can be controlled from
the
steering wheel via a thumb wheel, or through traditional controls
directly
below the color display.
Focus was on the development of
an HMI (Human-Machine Interface) solution that is easy to handle and
that does
not distract the driver from the main task of driving. Volvo is one of
the few
manufacturers to give the driver access to all infotainment functions
via
controls in the steering wheel.
Optionally, Sensus
Connected Touch can extend this technology to enable
further connectivity and add an infrared beam-scanned touch
screen that can be used even when wearing gloves. |
Renowned
Safety and Support
The Volvo
XC70 features such innovations as City Safety, which
for 2015 has been upgraded to be active at speeds up to 31 mph. The car
automatically brakes if the driver fails to react in time when the
vehicle in front slows or stops - or if the car is approaching a
stationary vehicle too fast.
Safety features,
that
are available at various trim levels for 2015 include Adaptive Cruise
Control with Queue Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Active High Beams,
Distance Alert, Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake, and Road Sign
Information.
The new Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection
Technology, extends Volvo's present detection and auto
brake technology to cover certain cyclist situations as well.
Pedestrian
and Cyclist Detection
with Full Auto Brake is a groundbreaking technology solution that
actively
helps the driver avoid accidents. Volvo's radar-and-camera-based system
can
detect pedestrians in front of the car, warn the driver if anyone walks
out
into its path - and then automatically activate the V60's full braking
power if
the driver fails to respond in time. This world-first technology can
help the
driver avoid a collision with a pedestrian.
Half
of all pedestrian accidents
occur at speeds below 16 mph. Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake
can
avoid a collision with a pedestrian at speeds up to 22 mph if the
driver does
not react in time. At higher speeds, the focus is on reducing the car's
speed
as much as possible prior to the impact.
Volvo's
first cross-over is the perfect activity vehicle for those who have a
love for recreation and the outdoors. The XC70 is a confident
expression of comfort, capability and safety in every situation - from
demanding all-weather drives to extended trips.
